India is the latest stop on Sodexo’s open innovation journey.

We’ve added another location to our open innovation map by partnering with an organization that supports the growth of high-potential startups and entrepreneurs in India. Sodexo has teamed up with Zone Startups, a globlal tech startup accelerator, which is on a mission to help Sodexo India to identify, assess, pilot and validate innovations brought from local startups that are boosting consumer food experience.

The new partnership is in line with Sodexo’s approach of joining forces with startups to expand our business’ offers and enhance consumer experience. We team up with incubators and accelerators to be connected to local startup communities, grow faster, remain competitive and be at the cutting edge of evolution in our field.

What this partnership means for Sodexo?

Startups working in the domain of Food at Work with a disruptive technology or a unique value proposition can apply for support from Zone Startups through a dedicated website. Zone Startups and Sodexo will then select relevant candidates for a one-week bootcamp and run pilot projects together on Sodexo sites. The goal of the initiative is to bring a new food experience and provide more innovative food offers to our clients and consumers.

Sodexo’s Open Innovation initiative – based on the idea of forging a closer relationship with the startup community – began in France and is now focusing on Asia-Pacific, starting with China and India.

Belen Moscoso Del Prado, our Chief Digital and Innovation Officer, commented: “To enhance the quality of life experience, it is vital to combine the agility and creativity of innovative startups with Sodexo’s market access and the deep understanding of consumer behavior.”

Since working both locally and globally is the key to keeping track of innovation, it makes sense to work with incubators like Zone Startups in specific countries to identify potential partners with new technologies and innovative business models.

Ajay Ramasubramaniam, Managing Director of Zone Startups India, said: “We are pleased to partner with Sodexo to co-create this first of its kind open innovation program in the enterprise food experience space. This program launched by Sodexo opens up collaborative avenues for startups working in emerging food services.”

Although this specific partnership is with the Indian arm of Zone Startups, the organization is a global brand of tech accelerators and venture funds operated by Toronto-based Ryerson Futures Inc. Established in 2012, they are present in Canada, India and Vietnam.
